Sealsafe®

The Sealsafe® optical unit has been an integral part of Urbis luminaires since 1985 and its guaranteed performance is a matter of record. Its high performance, low energy consumption and low maintenance have established it as the market leader, setting new standards. The hermetically sealed unit features a reflector bonded to a protector and a removable quarter turn lampholder support plug. This creates an enclosure which is both waterproof and dustproof to IP66.

BSI tests have confirmed that with a Sealsafe® unit there is no dust ingress to cause any degradation of the reflector's performance. No internal cleaning of the reflector or protector is required, during the lantern's life. All that's needed is an external wipe of the protector at the same time as the lamp is changed. This lifetime sealing is achieved with the use of a special labyrinth seal, and not the more common compression seal, around the lampholder support plug.

To achieve this standard of sealing consistently, Urbis' manufacturing is Quality Assured to EN ISO 9001:2000 and uses the latest production techniques. These include microprocessor controlled robots, linked to the CAD system, which apply the industrial sealant to the reflector unit.
