Willow Row, Derby
Willow Row lies in the centre of Derby, and is a key pedestrian and cycle route. In keeping with the name of the road and the Willow tree’s association with regeneration, Derby City Council wanted the new lighting scheme to have an organic form.
Background
Urbis supplied eight Thylia luminaires, mounted on four double columns. Each central steel column rises up from the stone base and branches into two curved arms. The bends of these extensions closely mimic the curves found on a tree, with no two bends being the same on each column.
Four 70 Watt CDM-T luminaires, mounted at 6m, light the cycle route on one side of the street, with four 150 Watt CDM-T luminaires, mounted at 8m, lighting the pedestrian route.
