Blackpool Promenade, Blackpool
The most striking feature of the new lighting equipment installed along Blackpool’s Promenade is the ‘iconic’ stainless steel curved columns, designed by dpa Lighting Consultants and manufactured by M-Tec. The columns provide a really eye catching feature, as they sweep elegantly from their base out over the promenade.
Background
The die-cast aluminium Hestia 1 was chosen as its sleek, modern design integrated with the proposed column. Urbis supplied 46 Hestia 1s fitted with either 70W or 150W CDM-T lamps and electronic control gear. The optical unit is sealed to an IP66 rating to ensure that it is protected against water and dust ingress.
