At Urbis, we like to become involved in all debates on lighting as this helps us to understand the issues and give our clients what they need.
For many years, there has been a view that good street lighting can have a positive effect on crime & the fear of crime and so we have sponsored many research projects on this topic.
We are also concerned about light pollution and have sponsored a seminar to discuss obtrusive light and what to do about it. We tried to involve experts from all interested parties including the astronomical community, as well as experts in the fields of law, advertising and the police force.
Good lighting design is crucial. We all rely on light and because it is used in many different ways and many different locations, the design must meet the specific requirement of each location.
