Inaugurated in 2010, the SKILL (School of Knowledge in Light and Lighting), Schréder’s training centre in Liege was built to host the many seminars and conferences that the Schréder Group and its members organise every year.
The SKILL was built next to R-Tech, Schréder’s European Research & Development Centre and this spacious facility features an auditorium with capacity for up to 80 people as well as eight meeting rooms and a restaurant.

Built in collaboration with the architect, Philippe Valentiny, the new building has a very contemporary and clean design, due in part to the construction materials (concrete, stainless steel and glass). This contrasts with the gardens, lit by Schréder LED luminaires.
As the centre welcomes visitors from all over the world, it was important that they feel at home. Lively colours have been used inside for the interior design.

It was this particular counterbalance of a contemporary building with a warm ambiance and green space that impressed the jury of the Liege Urbanism Prize.
Composed of 7 members, including Michel Firket - Alderman of Liege for City Planning, Jean-Paul Gomez - Director of Liege’s Planning Department and past winners, the jury wanted to reward initiatives that contribute to improving the quality of life in the city.
During the award ceremony in Liege on 28th October, the jury highlighted that this modern, sparkling and full of life construction constitutes an asset for the urban and economic landscape in Liege.

Congratulations to all those who participated in the successful construction of this building !

The Bora LED luminaire lights the entrance to the SKILL, creating a striking ambiance at night.

Lively colours were used for the interior design to create a lively and welcoming atmosphere.

The auditorium has a capacity for 80 people and has a nice view over the gardens.
