Urbis’ Managing Director, Patrick Baldrey says:
“Innovation and customer service have been the founding principles of the company. Our people have the strong engineering background needed to optimise the best solution for you.
We work closely with architects and urban designers to ensure we bring about positive changes to our urban landscape. We also like to get involved in local communities and have sponsored many studies showing how good lighting can reduce crime and the fear of crime. We are concerned about the tricky subject of light trespass and have become involved in that debate, as well.
Our flexibility and this strong focus on our customers’ needs have helped us to grow from our small beginnings in Merton.
In 1977, Urbis became a member of the Schréder Group GIE. Since then we have grown from the 600 square metre factory in Merton to our current premises in Basingstoke. These include conference and exhibition rooms, where you can see our latest luminaires and attend CPD seminars.
Our premises have now been expanded to 12,000 square metres. We employ over 240 people and have become the UK's largest supplier of street lighting and exterior decorative lighting equipment.
Our aim is retain our personal touch with our customers and to use our global strength to bring the latest technology to market.”
